About Gas Scooters · 12/20/2008
Gas scooters are two-wheeled motor vehicles that usually feature a step-through frame, a flat floorboard for the rider’s feet, small wheels (10" to 16" in diameter), and a rear-mounted engine suitable for light duty. In this traditional design, which had evolved by the middle of the 20th century, the scooter engine and drive system are attached to the rear axle or under the seat (unlike a motorcycle, in which the engine is mounted on the frame). The Vespa LX series is typical of this design.
